Neutral umpire services
Consider referred appraisal differences in a separate neutral role.
An umpire appointment calls for a neutral review of the differences referred through an appraisal process. Mad River first reviews the requested appointment, subject matter and any conflicts.
When this helps
When appraisers need a neutral umpire to address differences within the applicable appraisal process.
The role
Consider the appraisers’ positions and supporting information impartially, within the authority and requirements of the appointment.
What you receive
The determination or award documentation called for by the applicable process, addressing the differences referred to the umpire.
Focus of the service
- Confirm suitability, qualifications, conflicts and the scope of the neutral appointment
- Review both appraisers’ positions and supporting records
- Address the referred differences within the applicable process
Is the umpire acting for one of the parties?
The umpire role is neutral. It is separate from retained consulting, claims representation and a party’s appraisal appointment. The required independence and any conflicts must be considered before accepting the role.
